Artist Statement
Joanna Thomas is a contemporary botanical artist working in pencil. Fascinated by the intricate architecture of plants and the beauty hidden in small details, her approach is shaped by a background in horticulture and almost two decades teaching Visual Art, Science and Horticulture.
The use of graphite keeps the focus on structure, texture, form and light. Created slowly and deliberately, Joanna’s detailed artworks invite you to pause, look more closely and discover the quiet beauty of the natural world.
